Title: A really simple guide for making chuck (metal/chain)
Post by: Steph [TDO] on May 30, 2009, 11:08:50 AM
I try to do the same kind of guide for metal chuck with chain.
I think it's a really simple way to do one metal chucks.

I think i will add some glue where the chain is fixed.

nice bro! i am always amazed at how easy it is to make nunchaku. my only add is, i would prefer electrical tape over duct tape. i have used duct tape on chux and once it gets to wearing out. it can get to be a sticky mess.

Pretty cool. I'd like to make a pair like this but im confused about just one step.

In step 3 you drill a hole - Im guessing on both sides of each chuck.

In step 4, the chain is connected. How so? Im trying to imagine having a chain with links, and getting to this part and being absolutely stumped.  :?

How do you get the chain to hook on to the metal - and is there an alternate way to make these at home with a swivel instead?

You use the screw you just cut in step 2 to link the chain to the chuck.

Yes, i have surrounded the screw in the step 4.
You just need to put the screw in the aperture that you did in step 3. The screw need to pass in a link of the chain. so the chain is linked at the stick.

you could try to let the screw look out of the pipe a little on both sides and then hammer it down to create a solid bolt.
hope you know what i mean. havent tried it out yet, but i think it will flatten out.
it wouldnt even have to be a screw then, you could use a nail or something.
if there are no sharp edges after, you wouldnt even need the tape.
i think im gonna try to build some metal chucks like that soon.
thanks for the inspiration!

/screw me looks like u didnt use a screw but a nail to begin with^^
