Ok, ive been told by many people that beginning to learn double nunchaku techniques would be a good way for me to advance from my current level.

Earlier today I was walking through a shopping mall and saw a performing arts shop, so I went in and picked up a pair of Poi for a few pounds, as Ive been told Poi techniques are similar to double nunchaku techniques and that its a good way to learn the rythms.

But now Im kind of baffled, what do I do with these odd looking weignted bits of string? Can anyone point me in the direction of some advice or tutorials. Or tell me if Im doing the right thing?

Thanks again :-D

:-D I reckon you're doing the right thing, because poi are fun!

Poi are useful for learning double nunchaku, but only for swinging techiniques where you're waving the nunchaku around in intertwining patterns.

Body bouncing and wrist spins are near impossible with poi, so they're useless for helping you with that.

This website ( http://www.homeofpoi.com/lessons_all/teach.php/3_0_0 ) will help you with the basic poi techniques.

Enjoy mate!

Thanks kriztov, without your 'long haired freaky people' video, i probably wouldnt have bothered to pick them up, but the interlaced swinging pattern looked interesting  :-D

heres another couple of sites that helped me :-)

        http://www.domorepoi.com/poi_fire_spinning_lessons.php

a great site, it slows the moves right down and explains them in a way that is easy for me to understand :-)

not as good as home of poi or do more poi, but there are some tricks that aren't on them.

hope this helps mate and have lots of fun :-)

peace out.
