With all of these posts of exotic wood dowels I went off to find what some of these woods look like.
During my search I found this site and thought it may help people as ignorant as I am with how they look.

They don't appear to sell dowels but it is a nice chart.

Yeh man, looks similar to cocobolo.
Its all about balancing aesthetics with weight and durability/hardness. Ive always liked the look of walnut but it just seems so light. Oak is always a great midway...may look a bit generic though...

cocobolo is beautiful, durable and weighty. The best of all worlds for me. :thumb:
