D.I.Y Wooden Nunchaku Tieing Guide

Below is the original traditional way to string Nunchaku. There are practical combat related reasons for it to be tied in this fashion.

Materials:

    * Braided nylon cord - about two feet in length.
    * Candle wax
    * Paper clip
    * Bic lighter - to light candle and singe the ends
    * Scissors / Knife


This is what the inside of the Nunchaku looks like.
Before tying, place candle wax on the points shown to ease tying and reduce friction during use. DO NOT USE OIL!
1. Follow the diagram. Use a paper clip if needed
2. Push the end back up through the top.
3. Pull cord tight here and make sure the loose ends are even
4. Start B the same way as A
5. Insert the other end as shown. Adjust the distance between the heads of the Nunchaku now before tying the final knot. One fist width is the standard.
6. A standard double knot is more than sufficient. You can clip the ends and singe the tips to finish. Pull the Nunchaku apart firmly to seat the rope and knot.
7. An alternate way to tuck and finish the ends. You can make another double knot on the other side.

It is easier to say than do. it took me ages to make mine. do they really take two peaces of wood and attach them together or this is just an inner look?

Theve just cut it in half so you can see it better  I dont think you will see many which they make in 2 and glue together XD

The only flaw in this guide(Imho) is that most of us here to my knowledge dont own something like a dremel to recess the wood in between the holes, which makes it way easier to put it back through the top hole from the bottom.  Or if not a dremel, it would be quite time consuming to widdle it with a knife if you didnt have the skill or even the patience.

Same  Gerber gator, no serrations. Ive told my parents im going on a knife shopping spree on my 16th birthday

you dont need power tools to drill holes, you can use bits and screwdrivers that can hold them and do it by hand [tis what I do] and it works just fine, idk what you would have to do for the hole going down vertically in the sticks.. maybe a drill gun with a spade bit attacked..? should work if you could clamp it down so it would be a decent hole and not crooked.

IDK maybe your refering to my first post, not sure.  But I didnt say you needed power tools to make the holes...Im talking about the recessed part in 'between' the two holes on both sides(In the picture it would be the rectangular piece of wood shown in the cut out.)
