After being inspired by my hula hoop friend, decided to get into the game of freestyle and made some chux as I work my way towards fire chux.

Oak speed chux
1st pair of nunchakus that i've made.

they are pretty light but in since for speed chucks which is about a good weight.

Materials:
Oak 7/8" dowel
shoe string

Frankenstein's nunchakus
So this is my second pair. went out to get a different wood dowel, which is whitewood. it was so light that it was uncomfortable to use. so i took the left over oak and added it to the ends after the cut. still wanted a heavier chuck i added bolts to the ends. It was really a test of a make shift chain since i had no access to a swivel or bearing kit or tools needed to cut chain and link them together. Though now i've found a solution, but will need to finances to follow through.

Materials:
7/8" Oak dowel
7/8" whitewood dowel
2 eye screws
1 connecting link (dont remember the name)
2 1/2" bolts
electrical tape

LED chux v.1So here was my first attempt at an LED nunchuck, which was quite a hassle since i had low electrical knowledge and gathered info from bits and pieces. Overall it works well, circuitry is sound so it's ok. the only issue is i had no idea it needed 6v minimuim to run these LEDs so even with 4 AAA it's a little heavy. good thing is I found an alternative. a 12v AAA size battery online...just gonna cost me more on shipping than the actual product.

Materials:
12" long 1" OD .75" ID acrylic tubing
4 3/4 in pvc threaded caps
1 shoe string
2 soft push on/off buttons
circuit wiring
8 AAA batteries
6 68ohm
screws
hot glue

BONUS PIC! COLORED LIGHTNING

I found this picture when i looked through the shot i've taken adn apparently picked this up when i bumped the tripod or something...cool as hell though. If anything the highest level of chux a man can reach would be tesla chux XP

Be careful.
That second pair with the screw eyes may be dangerous to use.

Thanks for the warning, could you elaborate on the danger? It may be the the screw eyes that will break, but they should be pretty strong, i got the good kind or are you refering to the the sticks, theres a screw going through the oak 3 inches in and three inches into the white wood. the tape is just there because it didn't line up straight (carelessness), thoughb flush, and to keep my hand from getting caught on the ridge.

your oak corded chucks are perfect starter chucks, I agree with Milwaukee, second pair is NOT safe to use, those steel bolt ends stick out just enough to remove teeth and orbital bone, and the stick will splinter at connection due to weight of bolt. I also recommend a rounded cap for your glow chucks. Dont mean to harsh your gear, just want you to be safe, I look forward to seeing your next chucks!

Heh, good thing I found this place. I wasn't very much aware of the danger of the bolt, since i treated it the same compared to the wood, in terms of damage since both can get nasty. but splittering, geez. so what's the safer way of adding weight to the chux besides, obtaining heavier material?
Also regarding the caps, are you talking about geting one that's smooth on the outside or to protect the buttons? I mean, finding caps that fit was a hassle, they were either too big or too small, the tread allowed to scrap away enough to fit snug. Thanks for you reply.

The best way ive found to add weight is with duct tape, you can get a surprising amount of weight by tapering your chucks with duct tape, it also makes them nearly indestructable due to padding effect. On your glow chucks it is only the squared button that concerns me, perhaps a round bottle cap taped on would cover that.   :thumb:

The single chain link will bind up and unscrew the screw eyes eventually, if not immediately, when you try to spin.
