What he did was this:

First he drilled holes in the aliminium tube just big enough for the but to fit in. Then He got a hplastic tube and put it inside the aluminium tube. Then he drilled a hole just big enough for the bolt (but not the nut!). Then he put the chain inside the plastic tube, which is inside the metal one, and stick the bolt through all the holes and out the other end. Then, he screwed the nut up really tight, and it should be kinda embedded into the metal. Then saw off the remaining bit of the bolt, and hit the end of the bolt with a hammer to musroom it out.

we have to carry walkie-talkie - like radios at work.  They have little hoops around them so you can fasten them to your wrists. I often lasso two of them together  in chuck-like-fashion and play around with them at work when we're all bored and need to be entertained hehe.

Errrm well basically he put a plastic tube inside the metal one, and embedded the screws in the metal one.

Errm no.
He drilled a hole in the metal big enough for the end of the screw and the bolt to go in (large hole then), then put a plastic tube inside, a drilled through the hole he already made in the metal, then through the plastic. Except this time he made the hole only big enough for the bolt to go through. Geddit?
