I bought a pair of the 12" Solid Wood Nunchucks from http://www.security-wizard.net/ and they fell apart after about a week. The only thing I ever did with them was practice passes with them, I've never struck anything with them but air. The other walking around with them and they just fell apart. So I probably won't be ordering from them ever again.

I'll second that!! I own two pairs of "store bought" chux and I own twelve pairs of DIY chux that were built by me. Can you guess which kind I like better? Mine of course. The store bought ones are heavy, shitty bearings, and the balance is off by about 7 grams on each pair. My DIY chux have no more than a 1 to 2 gram difference, their light (about 220 grams), no shitty bearings to break as my DIY's are all corded, usually with paracord, or this woven flat 1/2" inch wide nylon string that was originally used to pull fiber optic cabling through conduit, (has a 900 pound pulling strength). Trust me nunchaku are not hard to build yourself, it just takes a little thought and a little bit of work. I recently built a couple pair of matching nunchaku that were made from 4 "Squeegee" handles that I acquired from the local gas station.
