So i believe I've made a mistake while creating a pair. The cord is too short for my liking and doesn't flow well with my body. I'm wondering what good size would be for being able to wristroll or handwrap? I feel that the perfect size for me would be the length of my palm. I want a good swing because I'm used to chain chucks and remember a long time ago that I learned how to do the technique without even knowing what it was lol! I'm a beginner. any pictures of what you guys use for a good swinging chaku would be greatly appreciated along with the length of cord or chain that you use. I don't want it too long but then again I don't want it too short. I apologize if this seems a bit vague.

And that's all that matters, bro... Chucks are supposed to be exactly how you like them. It's also a good idea to experiment with different connection lengths.
So make them as long as YOU like and as YOU feel comfortable with them.
You can see people freestyling w/ very long connection chucks (e.g. Chinese or Excalibur) or with Prochux.
Whatever makes you happy!  :respect:

  • Life's not a trial, it's a trail!
put the cord over the top of your palm, then make it short enough that the sticks cant hang straight down off your hand, but stick out 1 inch on the ends. This gives you a little 'snap' as you wristroll.  :thumb:

perfect explanation, dude !  :thumb:

as Stickmanwalking said, for a basic freestyle nunchaku training, you need to know how long the cord needed on your chuck to make you feel good while doing wristroll. Even either Silverfire or Prochux is good to use, at least you must know the basic length of the connector.

hope it helps you  :thumb: :thumb:

It's all a matter of preference. Prochux have a short cord, (about one inch) while standard nunchakus have a cord (or chain) that is basically as long as the width of the top of your hand, (I measure mine at the knuckles as it's usually the widest part of your hand). I've tried Prochux but don't like them because I can't do all my different moves on them, they're uncomfortable to me, and I can't get a "flow" established. Standard nunchakus with a standard size cord work best for me. Try your cord at a length that goes across the top of the knuckles and adjust the length to where the sticks point straight down and use this as your starting length. Use them for a little bit doing a lot of hand rolls and wrist rolls. If it's too short the chux will pop off of the back of your hand and you won't be able to make the catch. If it's too long you'll be able to tell by doing a couple hand rolls. When you flip the chuk over your hand and attempt to catch it on the other side you'll be catching the cord and not the chuk. Adjust the length so that you're catching the chuk and not the cord.
My theory is pretty simple, (although a little crude): nunchakus are very much like your penis...you have to play with it a lot to know what you're most comfortable with.

PS: remember to work with BOTH hands and adjust length till it's comfortable in both hands. This is because your dominant hand is usually a little bit wider.

You just have to find your preference.

The length of the cord/chain can also be more confortable in function of the weight and balance of the sticks.

 Hah funny! Yes, I've been messing around with the length and I think I've got it. I'll post a pic when I'm finished with them. It's taken some time and patience!  :respect:
