I am currently using these http://www.karatedepot.com/wp-nu-03.html 12' rattan ball bearing and these http://www.gungfu.com/htm-weapons/japanese-weapons/weapons-japanese-weapons-nunchaku-wooden-dragon-speedchuck.htm rounded ball bearing speed chucks. I also have a crappy pair of "crackle" rounded corded chucks and a pair of plain black octagonal corded chucks, both 12". My favorite by far is the rattan, although they are a little light and hard for me to do wrist flips with & have a tendancy to "bounce" off my hand when i do passes behind the back.

The latter two were pretty cheap, dont spin well and feel "clunky", although I can still use them decent. I think I want to find a decent pair of corded and ball bearing chucks...I guess an upgrade from my rattan? lol. I always see people with thinner looking ones - I'm assuming those are competition chucks like the Shikata ect? Sorry for my ignorance but any suggestions would be appriciated ; )

( Ah yeah - all I have ever owned are wooden chucks so I would be willing to try something else...im just hesitatnt since I am stuck ordering online~)

Thanks for the suggestion nun, I'll keep those in mind while i'm shopping, although I'm afraid they're kinda similar to the second set I have =D

I'd smuggle you some chucks in Maria if I wasn't on the opposite end of North America =D

Hey that sounds like a huey lewis song to me:
"I want a new drug (chuck)

Don't buy these:
http://www.blackbeltshop.com/custom_chain_nunchaka.htm
2 much weight in the middle of the chuk. I had to change the chain (lighter ones).
The wood very light and it''s not varnished (i had to rip off the film, varnished them and put
another film around them. So if you want to do any kind of rolls, they
fly to the moon. The ballbearing-caps are regular and the handles are thin.
At the picture they look like the xma-chux.

I like these:-)

both are pretty light and well manufactured.

Well, i wound up going with  a 12 in. pair of these
http://karatetraining.org/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_26&products_id=404

Decided to give the cords one last chance. I've never owned a thin pair like this, so before i go off & order a $30+ pair, I decided to try the ones for $14 lol.  Hoping they work out well, as I'm getting a little frustrated with my rattan chucks.

Should be here in a couple of days

So far my advice to anyone would be to stay away from karatetraining.org.  Order has been in processing limbo since Wed, and they never answer the phone!

10 days later they ship...meanwhile I'm in love with my homemade chucks. It's official though, dont use www.karatetraining.org for any of your orders...unless you don't mind waiting forever.

I'm hoping the chucks flow like my homemade ones, just maybe a little better with the extra weight.  I do still think I will get a pair of Pro Chux to try out eventually, I'm just too poor to chuck up another 30 bucks right now (thanks college).

DO not use those chux, they are kama handles strung together.
