Hi Guys,
I ran across this article on how to anodize aluminum so you can customize your aluminum chucks with some color while I was searching methods of sealing aluminum. I'm tired of having to wash my hands after using my "unsealed" chucks! Very interesting read. http://www.thefintels.com/aer/homealuminumanodizing.htm. Think I'm gonna have to try this myself

But do you wanna my real opinion ? Very dangerous to try for just dont have to wash your hands. And with the cost you will have, you can buy nunchakus.
If you wanna do only very few nunchakus, it dont worthy. Because the risk and the cost.
Unless are you thinking about make lots and lots of nunchakus and sell them.
(if you do nunchakus like that, come here saying haha and show the pictures   )

I prefer put a tape, or using a new aluminum. (i dont need wash my hands after that way, some of mine are aluminion also)
Do not buy used and old aluminum when you are going to make your nunchakus.
I think you're having to wash your hands because of it.

I agree, if you are not familiar with working with acidic/caustic chemicals then it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle or investment. You definitely have to pay attention to the safety precautions. Messing around with sulfuric acid can be dangerous if you aren't careful. I do have a fair amount of experience using these chemicals from anodizing parts (using commercial/professional equipment) for planes when I was in aircraft maintenance. The lye and acid aren't that expensive (less than $20) where I live, therefore I thought it would be an interesting home project to practice on since I plan on doing some of this type of work on my 240Z during it's "refresh." The process is not really much different from powder coating parts. The chucks I made from solid aluminum rod were new aluminum, but they were standard 6061, whereas most aluminum tubing is 2024, which has a higher copper and magnesium content giving it greater strength and corrosion resistance... but they were the first pair I'd made of metal and it was more experimental than anything else. As I mentioned in my original post, I was looking for a simple way to seal the aluminum to start with when I ran across the article. That is still my main objective, but I thought that some of you out there would be interested in the how and why of anodized metals so I thought I would post it.

I thought you were only an adventurer trying a new process for nunchakus.
Good to know you a bit more safe because you have knewlodge about it
