Okay so, I was thinking of ways you could make Nunchaku that differ from the normal methods, or different sorts.

I was thinking one of the following

*Silicone

*Rubber

*Square cross section

*PVC pipe (My preference, I have made several PVC pairs)

*Foam (LARP chucks)

*Rope

*Duct tape (You can make anything outta duct tape)

*Polypropelene (Made from Cold Steel Eskrima, that'd be best)

*Fiberglass

So what does the community think? And do you have any tutorials for making any of these?

Sounds like a good idea.

From what I've seen since I joined FnF, most common materials used in chux crafting are Foam(PVC inside), wood and metal.
Maybe that variety of materials you said could extend the possibilities related to weight and speed.

For beginners like me, it would be awesome to test different chux with different weights but not so extremely different. From a foam chux to a wooden chux there's a world of difference.

Well, it's just what I think. Most likely the pros around here could give a better informed opinion.

I am on my 4th prototype chucks made from rope and duct tape, very adjustable and easy to weight, and legal too. I have wanted to try making acrylic chucks by using pvc tubing as a mold and dropping a few links of chain into some catalyzed acrylic resin.

Acrylic resin chucks sound really cool, actually. If I was good I'd be making some interesting designs with it. I'd really love some blue ones o.o I'm going to have to look into this now! If you ever make that let me know!

I've made those dymondwood chucks which were kinda in the middle between acrylic and wood, and those were really cool, they really got me thinking about what other materials I could make chucks with.

I did make some LARP-chucks once. I made them out of some thin PVC pipe with a swimming pool noodle cut to fit a little longer than the PVC.  I covered them in some very, very stylish yellow flame duct tape and some chain coated in yellow rubber. They looked great, but after I made them I checked official LARP rules and they don't allow flail weapons D:

I did get to fight with them once, though! I did super well against a sword or double sword, but against the lance I just got crushed. I was able to hit the sword aside and strike, or sort of catch it and push it aside for a strike, but I think they're illegal because you can do just that XD

i think you should check DIY Guides in the forum topics, i think some chuckers have posting some

Okay guys, I'm bringing this thread back to life.

I'm on a quest now to make the perfect chucks. As in, THE perfect chucks.

I'm talking nearly indestructable. Cold Steel grade Polypropelene shafts with fiberglass rods in the cores, linked by a titanium chain molded deep into the handles.

Polypropelene is nearly indestructible according to Cold Steel, and Titanium is too, and it's very light. And the fiberglass in the centar of the Polypropelene would help a bit too.

So basically these would be the indestructible chucks. Good idea or not?

Well, that escalated quickly...

I'm not an expert in weapon design, but if you want an idea, add knives at the end of the stick. Regardless of the resistance of the stick, using knives would make the owner of the weapon to focus using the blades of the nunchaku before using the sticks themselves to strike.
This way you could propably extend the lifespan of the sticks, 'cause you're focusing the damage that the weapon will suffer from striking, in the blades first.

Also that would give you deadlier chances to defend youself in a too-close combat situation.

Yeah but who would want to freestyle with chucks that have blades?

I'm talking about chucks that can one second be the best freestyling chucks you've ever felt, but turn right around and be the deadliest chucks you ever used.

Okay guys I have more ideas.

Some of these are legit ideas and some are jokes.

 * 2 average buddy bottles connected by a cord (I believe this has been done...)

 * 2 flashlights connected by a chain or cord (Glowchucks anyone?)

 * 2 barbie dolls tied together by their hair

 * 2 shoes connected by the laces (This gives a new meaning to "Kicking ass")

 * A totally straight aluminum bicycle handlebar, cut in half and modified accordingly to make chucks

 * 2 Lightsaber handles connected by a chain (Stylish!)

 * 2 Dild-- .... Nevermind.  :-P (I'm a pervert...)

 * 2 Wii remotes (Get the joke here?)

 * 2 live squirrels tied together by a string (Srsly, don't do this lol)

:matrix: Nanotechnology ???  :firesmiley: Totally overkill, the idea is interesting, but It could be a little hard to do this at home  :greendude:
