Being a guy who works with woods I'm sure you are gonna ask "How did they do that?" with regard to the octagon edges. They aren't sharp, but they also aren't sanded. They are actually burnished with a polished stone to give them a "finish" that doesn't seal the wood and in the process rounds out the sharp corners a bit. Also brings out the brown highlights which will get more noticeable as you use them.

They are also a tad larger than you typical nunchaku so I think you'll really enjoy them.

Just looked up Gabon Ebony and these are not that. It would probably cost several hundred dollars to produce a pair in gabon ebony. But they are still a very high grade of ebony. Don't want to build them up too much, you'll see them in a couple days.

Still a very nice Ebony, I noticed my Gabon (Gaboon) Ebony is blacker than night and much darker than my other Ebonies. There's several Ebonies that would make classy 'chuk handles, and you guys definitely picked a winner. I bought 3 sticks of Gabon Ebony to make a 3-handle 'chuk (forgot the name of these) , I plan to add these to my collection. Just imagine the price tag on these when they're done   :whahaa  ,lol, Gabon Ebony handles with 316L Stainless chain and 'machined from solid billet' tool steel caps and swivels. The most expensive project on my list is gonna be the Snakewood 3-sectional staff, around $1,000.00 in materials alone, but I want an 'ultimate' replacement for my poor, tired out AWMA's, they have earned their retirement.

My collection is actually quite small compared to some of the collections here. It just came to a point where if I was going to have exactly what I wanted in a martial arts weapon, I was going to have to make it myself. The hard part is waiting for all the machines and tooling to arrive and I am bouncing off the walls ready to make something, lol. I ordered the wood lathe today just so I could start making round and tapered-round handles for corded models. Next phase will be my own swivels and hardware, then finally, polygon shaped handles. The wood lathe can handle up to a 42" long turning blank, which means 3-sectional staff 'sections' will be a breeze or police nightsticks or tonfa etc...
