So if I understand the matt's u-swivel problem correctly the pin(more like a bolt, but hollow) sheared off where the red arrow points?

So by longer in length you mean sunken into the wood and glued so that the pin itself doesn't swivel, but the "U" part does?

Matt:

Thanks for the video showing where the cap broke but you neglected to say what you were doing when this happened to the U-Swivel.  What maneuver you were doing and what surfaces you were on.  You never gave us an explanation about what you were doing with them when this occurred.  The only thing you told us is that they broke and where they broke but not how it was done.

We did offer to fix them for you free of charge.  You informed us that you had already made them into rope so that it wasn't necessary for us to fix them.  Bill emailed you a possible explanation of what might have occurred based on only the information that you sent us via an email.  We have made our quality checks more detailed so that nothing gets out that does not meet the specs.

I hope that you did well on your demonstration.

I have many pairs of old dolans uswivels and Ive never had a problem with them. But if you use them for striking or smashing them against concrete that's a whole different story

never did any striking, and never used them anywhere NEAR concrete

its the snap strikes man,, they seem to kill all of my chucks,

im working on my own design for a double capped corded set of chucks,, its gonna be Fkin infallible!  only way they can break is if the sticks get snapped right in half.

will post a few pics next month once ive got the patent  8-)

In my experience traditional triple string bindings are virtually indestructible, soundless and easy to replace.
My favorite chucks are 14" maple, they have triple string bindings, and I've dropped them, and hit with them, they won't break.
Of course you can cut the strings, and you can't grapple a sword.
I have done snap strikes with them.
