if you used end caps wouldn't that prevent you from connecting the two pipes together to make the baton?

They weigh almost half a pound, lil scary around the fingers if you hold them high, they could pinch my fingers near the chain and pipe lip. Though a cure for that is to drill a hole into some plastic end caps and slip the chain through them, placing the caps into the pipe ends.  A few mods here and there....along with replacing the end screws with roll pins or dipping the button in rubber Plasti Dip ext... .... Other than that they're great, can do everything I normally do...now just need to learn some baton contact moves :)

yes/no lol.....  inside and outside end caps would allow them to connect.

The ideal is with one side of the chuxs to have an end cap on the inside, and the other on the outside, since some some tricks require holding the chuxs high, the outside cap would prevent my hand going up to high and being pinched, it would act more like a ring stop on the end. I've seen some Chinese chuxs with end caps like that, also have a red pair built with end caps on the outside, it protects the hands fairly well.

The inside cap would just give less pinch if your hand slid to high.......

Ah! JEM in your avatar.... wow! I'm surprised how many artists swing chuxs lol.... yeah be careful with the hands when swinging chuxs... I've learned the hardway so far lol... pinched and numb them several times... :bleed

I'm hoping that you'll post pics of the chucks with the endcaps on.
Also, I checked out your site.  Very Cool  :respect:
And the music on your myspace page I really like!  :clap
Nice Chops!  I should've figured that so many "artists" would also be into
freestyle chucking but who knew???
I was just looking around my little studio (basement) and noticed that
the legs from a guitar stand might make a nice pair of chucks although
they might need to be weighted to be effective.
I recently took my pvc foam covered p.o.s. chucks & inserted drum sticks (of all things)
into them to make some weight.  works great!
Also, taking the chain from 7 links down to 5 really helped alot.
I'd like to know more about the pedals that you make too.
Also, I was born in Corpus so we both share some "Texas Mojo"

Sure.... they where used in my "dark style" video.......

These particular end caps "bottle caps lol" work well for inner and the outer sides, though they wouldn't work on the DIY hide-a-chux, they would have to be inner on one side and  outer on the other. I think home depot sells pvc vinyl end caps for steel tubing, that would be perfect for the DIY hide-a-chux.

Yeah, messing with germanium transistors and op amps is pure fun, I've mainly built op amp "tubescreamer" types, even have my own design:)  If you haven't done this, you should try it....it's great stuff.

I found the pipe from a old bathroom corner stand... any cheap corner stand made that way could work... some closet, bathroom curtain rods are made that way too.   The pipe on this one weighs enough,  rubber chair tips or end caps can add weight, the long chain going through it adds weight... filling the metal tubes up with silicone sealant can add a good amount of weight 8-)

Thanks. I may have to make a trip out to home depot or lowes to see what i can find around there. I was asking about the weight for a pair i was going to make out of conduit that would weight a hefty amount. Again, i am really liking these chucks.
