yayu. i have thought of this exact thing. we will need a grading system to present.
in my mind there are two main aspects of freechaku
aesthetics
technicality
now we break it down enough, but not too much, as an overwhelming, comprehensive scoring system i dont think would do us well. so lets base it off of a 10 point total system.
under technicality we have- move difficulty, move variance, and fluidity
move difficulty is somewhat in the eye of the beholder, but most stuff is obviously difficult or obviously not difficult.
move variance is a positive way of saying little repetition (which is in a negative. negative and positive not as in good or bad)
fluidity would be a judgment on whether the performer got tripped up or not. accidental chain catches and stuff like like. not to mean that there will be no bounces or stuff, just not getting tripped up.
under aesthetics we have- footwork and overall performance
footwork is pretty self explanitory. are you stuck in one spot the whole time, or are you making use of the whole floor for your performance
overall performance would include how combos are set up, and if they look good together. if the performer looks loose and in the zone, or uptight and rigid.
so with these five categories of grading, each on a 1-10, the average would be the total score
example: i give a performance and the uk judge gives me a:
move variance: 8
move difficulty: 8.5
fluidity: 7
footwork:7
overall performance: 8
my total score from the uk judge would be a 7.7
please add to the discussion of a scoring system and remember to not make it too limiting or to overwhelming.
