I take it you got bearing heads? One of mine was a little wobbly so I wrapped it with some strong electricians tape which done the job, and that was quite a while ago. But if it's rusting, I'd recommend a new pair to be extra safe.

Yeah, they're very similar to mine. I just got some electricians tape and wrapped it around the metal part and down onto the wood.

If not you could take the metal bits off, wrap the wood in tape or anything that will fill the space and then put the metal caps back on, but that depends on how the metal bits attach to the wood.

They seem to be bearing heads, I'm not 100% sure of the inner workings but I'd be willing to bet that taking off the heads would permenently knacker them.

I don't really understand why you worry benwin. You have a peice of wood, with apin through it, its only wobbling because the wood inside hasnt been lathes compleatly the same shape as the holder. My chucks do the same ting, and i havent ever had any problems with them.

I have a very same chuck that you use. I manage to keep the rusting away by cleaning them using alcohol after use. if you're worried with the pin, if it is already loosed, use another type of screw. What I did is, after I bought those chux, I've already placed a tape on it. so far, it's not loosing even if it hits hard so many times in a solid concrete. just maintain the tapes(2 layers is good enough).

The pins used to be spring compressed.  If you take them out you will either need new compression pins or bend the old ones back out.  AWMA sells the whole kit with head and springs.  I used to get the kit and just use the pins.  Tape is always the easiest way to go and it works.  Also, the taped under the head is good as well.
The more I see the less I know, the more I like to let it go!
