the other thing is i couldnt get the knot from the cord inside the chux, I can use them when the knot isnt in the middle but i was wondering if i should switch to this shoelace instead?

i would recommend against using shoelaces - they have a tendency to wear out very quickly.

as for grippyness, i'd say tape the chucks - either with electrical tape, or with athletic tape, for even more extra grippyness ;)

nice chucks btw  :2thumbsup:

Go with paracord, always works good and lasts long ;)

Yea elec/athletic/colored vinyl tape will work.  Tennis grips.  Lacquer and the like.  Those should work for grips.

Also try to finish the connection on the side of the chuck(in the side holes) then use something about the size of an icepick and push it in.

Hi mate ^^

Maybe it's me but... don't you find your chucks very wide? I'm acostumated to thin sticks, I think they are pretty much faster and they hurt a bit less when you fail and hit yourself.

About the cord, I'd use a rope for climbing, it's more safe.

If they slip too much, you can tape them, but in my opinion they will seem bad looking. You could try by sanding them into a non rounded form (octogonal, maybe), that should give you some grip.

If you want to keep the wood finish go over it with a coarse sand paper (something around 80-100 grit), I've just finished a tapered set and polished them up lovely but they were too slippy so I unpolished them.
