funchaku. foam nunchaku that are well balanced and heavy enough to freestyle with, but are legal in most places. if at some point i invested in a foam casting machine, and other things i would need for a small factory, do you think i could sell them? funchaku would also make traditional wooden nunchaku and possibly steel nunchaku. is there enough of a market that is not already gobbled up to pay back the cost? i would like your guys opinions.

How much you want for your foam nunchaku?

well, once all the machines are running, in about 10 or so years, i would sell for about $30.

I'm just not too sure your investment would pay off. I just don't think there is a big enough market for what you are talking about. and if someone did want foamies, then they'll just buy the ones made in China... I can see as a hobby on the side but not as a big manufacturing/production company or anything.  you can just buy the different size foam that goes around pipes and make some that way???

that foam is not strong. it needs to be cast onto the nunchaku, to hold properly. the idea here is a foamie that is a pleasure to freestyle with. not a cheap crappy one. anyway that was my question, would it pay off? and it would not be a huge manufacturing thing, it would just be some foam casting equipment under a tarp in my back yard.  :greendude:

is there enough of a market left for me to sell traditional chucks? not as my sole income, but just a nice hand made pair of nunchaku every once in a while. simply because i enjoy making them.

Hey Dig, if you enjoy it and can afford it go for it! i just love making chux and don't plan on going pro...personally i just noticed that all the "professionally" made chux aren't really so freestyle friendly.i made some modifications [octa-round & 5 cord tie] for comfort and control. and i liked them more than my expensive ones[ALOT] so i make what i like and what freestylers have asked for.... in other words I'm keeping my day job but will keep making chux for people who will appreciate them. don't get me wrong i like my other chux... just my A.D.D.['boredom intolerance' as my dad called it"my son does'nt have a disorder you just bore him"] kicking in!!
