Well im attempting to make my first pair of chucks while i sort out the silver fire ones im getting, but how do i make the wood all smooth, shiney and nice, just a nice finish really?

If you just want the wood, start with a sandpaper of 80, then go for 150, and end with 220 or 240. With that, the wood will be really smooth. Also you can apply some product in the end, like oil, to make it more shinny

1.) sand it down as smooth as you can,

2.) drip candle wax all over the chucks, any candle will do, just coat them fully, then scrape off the wax, this will leave a fine film of waxy residue.


reduces the risk of blisters, and makes the grip a hell of a lot better  8-)

just make sure that the wax that's left isnt too thick though  :wink:

i tend to brush it off with the rough side of a spunge,(dry), seems to work

ive always waxed my cords to prevent fraying, but that's a good idea to wax the whole chucks.

i didnt wax the chord! Thanks for the info ;) ill do that now i dont want my chord fraying prematurely (or at all)

Yeah thanks Matt, I will try the waxing tomorrow. Just finished my first pair of home made nunchaku's and they are slippery as hell.
