I think if works like this way with sure no new categories this year. 15 is too many :/
Fire + glow last year had only 10. Warrior 7 and Director 8.

But btw no new categories isnt bad. In my opinion i only think little weird mix glow with fire, like i told.

If have a blindfolded category and i use fire or glow nunchakus blindfolded, which category does this go?
Just kidding hahaha  :-D, That would be confusing. :lol:
Maybe one more reason to dont have blind =)

I honestly think that splitting fire and glow is a good idea, just because i think just like most other posts that they are on two different levels.
Maybe instead of completely splitting them, we put anyone who enters with Fire into expert? and that way they are only facing people with good skill in glow and others with fire? That way, 1 category, but anyone entering with fire also has to take into consideration that they will be Against spinners who have been put into the expert division?

Im not for the Blind idea, but i like JMs suggestion of  if the category has enough participants then it can be added, altho i also agree with renato, that 15 is too many. maybe, 6? or 7?
Without ALL of us together, we wouldn't be nearly as strong, or learn as much. But together, we change the history of everyone we meet. Together everyone has a huge impact.

blind session might be fun, quite hard, but it can be put into the singles cat. Actually i was thinking on how to uniform the chux-type usage, like light-weight or heavy-weight area, just a label, so peoples whose voting knows what type of chux they are using even if they are all in the same cat.

Instead of new category being based on how many video's are entered, you could do a sign up sheet.  Seems like most of the time people sign up they actually post, so if 15 sign up for blindfolded we should get at least as many entries as warrior or director got last time around.  Same for glow, which I don't think many people will sign up for.  Glow will almost certainly loose to fire if they are together, but people who enter glow vids know that and just do it for the fun.

Well, the idea of the 15 entries for a category to work was just a number in the go  :lol:, the important part was the idea.

We can make a topic for each specific category idea, so we can see if we got people that like it, or not.

For glow and fire, I agree that they are totally different things.... maybe we should make a poll for it  :nerd:

GENERAL PROBLEMS:

The problems that arise with a new category, is that the amount of total subcategories is big. Remember that in the CO, we divide each category by level, so it can complicate things a bit (there are polls for each video, to know the level, and then a poll for each subcategory, and then a poll for the champion of champions).

Maybe we can create a rule like:

Levels in one category:

1-7 videos --> One Skill Level
8- 16 --> Two Skills Levels
17-21 -->Three Skills Levels
21-30 --> Four Skills Levels
30+ -->Five Skills Levels
(numbers can vary according to comments)

Then we can go with what yetibutt said:

Instead of new category being based on how many video's are entered, you could do a sign up sheet.  Seems like most of the time people sign up they actually post

So, if someone want to add a new category, they will first need to get people that will want to make a video, (the number can change, but if we keep the table above, at least 8 sign ups will be needed, to have two skills levels in the category)

HOW TO CHOOSE A CATEGORY:

Of course, as we are talking about the chuck off, a suggestion for a new category should be based on nunchaku skills (that is the idea of the tournament), and the rules are the same.... 2 minutes max, continuous video (no edits), etc.

Please comment in all this, so we can start working in new categories, and also with all the comments, I will open a poll to choose if fire & glow should be together or not  :thumb:

Only 2 minutes? Maybe longer?

Only 2 minutes? Maybe longer?
the problem with making it longer is that its a skill based video, making it longer takes a lot of that aspect out because people drop them when a freestyle gets longer than 2 or 3 minutes because your arms get tired, or you have to down your skill level so you can do one continuous freestyle with no drops. Because you cannot cut anything out, making a video longer than 2 minutes would be an extremely difficult thing to do

Maybe new category: Long videos?
5 minutes uncut? Something like the endurance challenges? instead of blindfolding, we are looking for a more difficult thing to do, this would meet the standards of extreme difficulty. 1 cut, no edits, at least 4 minutes but no longer than 5 minutes long?

I think that blind is a good way to go honestly.  Like I said, I dropped a blindfolded video into the chuckoff a year or two ago, just because the competition was so fierce I figured that without a wildcard to wow the voters, I'd never get close to winning.  Someone said that being blind would degrade the quality of the freestyle, but that's kind of the point.  Without the urge to overcome adversity, there would've been no suffrage, no racial equality, no advancement.  My nephew is blind and he still spins doubles like a dream.  Of course, on top of that, there's also the issue of danger. See this outtake from the footage I submitted:

More respect should be given simply because it's more dangerous.  Anyone who's willing to take that chance and still put out a decent freestyle, by proxy should be applauded.

what about a blindfolded fire spinner?  Where would that one go?   :lol:  (Yes I have done it before)  What about people that mix fire and glow?  Troy has done a glow chuck + Fire chuck spin that was out of this world.  Where would hybrids go?

hahaha, you are right Ken, qwerty for exemple with fire + glow is a problem.
I asked the same thing about a fire blindfolded. I think the easiest solution is to disallow hybrids.

That may be the easiest, but also quite unfair. There arent very many hybrids really, im sure there is a way to make everyone happy
The glow fire however is even a step up in impressiveness from just fire, so i dont know.  :craze

2mins, so busy voters to spend only 10minutes for 5 videos. And most music is around 3mins only ^^ i suffer spending a lot of time looking for music for 5mins without copyrighted content.. Just found a not famous filipino music, but still blocked in germany..
