I have some sort of cheapie foam chucks with ball bearings that I like to practice with.  I like the weight of them, but the chain is too long for my hand.  It is a seven link chain and it can wrap entirely around my hand and then twist a couple of times..  I tried to knock the pin out with a punch so I could cut off a couple of links, but I haven't succeeded.

Any advice?

If you could cut the chain off both ends near the bearings but leave a single chain link on each chuck still attached, you could then tie nylon cord between them both. Lengthen or shorten the nylon until you find what works best for you. I like this idea (because it's mine), but also because you could braid the cord and that would look cool.

You could also try something like this. You can get them at hardware stores and such.

Cut the links out to desired length minus one link, then use a quicklink (like what elemant showed)
