Lets see if I can get the pics to link here....please bear with me.....not computer literate.
Any way i needed a pair of house-safe chucks as I got tired of spackling and painting the ceiling. I don't have any lightweight chucks cause I don't like the feel of them.  Decided to make foamies but with the feel of regular chuks. I used 1/2 inch pvc pipe for the body. 1/2 inch end caps were also used, one of them drilled in the center for an eye bolt that was secured with a flat washer and self-locking nut. I glued the end cap with the eye-bolt first and then filled the hollow pvc pipe with sand and glued the other end cap on. I bought self-sealing 1/2 inch foam pipe insulation and wrapped the chuck with it. Duct tape reinforces the top and bottom to keep the foam from starting to peel on the end. A piece of cord ties the chuks together.

use [img.] without the dot, at the begining of each pic, and [/img.], without the dot, at the end, so they can be in the post as pics and not as links!  :thumb:

I made some similar foamies with the same type of pipe insulation. Ultimately, I found them to be too wide for my liking, and the insulation foam isn't the most durable stuff anyway. What I ended up doing was I bought a set of toy nunchucks from a party store for a dollar, and replaced the plastic core with a metal one. The same could be done with some cheap foamies from Century. It's tidier, and won't get sand everywhere if they break.

Those chucks look great though. My first attempt looked like ass. :lmfao:

I've got a similar pair, PVC with foam pipe insulation.  I tightly wrapped the whole thing with duct tape to make them thinner and a bit denser.  They work pretty well, though I only ever use them if I am practicing something extremely dubious.

Wrapping them with the tape does sound like a good idea.
