There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.

He's good but a little stiff and boring for a freestyle forum methinks!

I remember thinking once that Pete Sampras was boring .. he made the impossible look pedestrian .. and always won...

On a superficial level I get where you are coming from (he looks like the kinda guy who I'd trust to do my taxes), but I'm gonna resist mistaking "confident" for "boring".

I guess if we are to be honest, freestyle is as much about trying to be flash as it is about skills, self-satisfaction, fitness, self-expression and relaxation. In that respect maybe he does need to think about "presentational issues". In that respect you raise an interesting if perhaps uncomfortable point. I'd be interested in other folks views.

Pete sampras is a top tennis player where-as the nunchuker in question is some guy that practiced the same boring combos's again and again with very little variation (so the video suggests to me.)

It would be very interesting to get the guy's feedback on this.

quite cool but in my opinion not THAT great... i think the_d for example is better...
Does god want goodness or the choice of goodness? Is a man who chooses the bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him?

... granted, the_d is more inventive, but this guy has a casual efficiency ... just maybe he does
need to step outside his comfort zone ... a bit like when you see a footie player doing a bicycle kick:
could he do that kick everytime? No. Is it dramatic to watch? Yes. Is the possibility of failure part of
what makes it dramatic? Undoubtedly.

Nonetheless, I still appreciate what Mr Perrine is doing. I think we all probably do in one way or another.

I also think our perceptions of how interesting his performance is is are being influenced by presentational factors. Doug doesn't
move a lot and has chosen a blank background. Apart from the odd flash of mullet-hairdo, he also
looks like an accountant. Whether we like it or not, these things influence us....

also video quality is not that great, and also its important to know what kind of instrument hes using.  If hes using heavy nunchaku than I think its a great form.  Wins alot of tournaments ill bet

My tastes never really included just standing in one spot. And while he's good at what he does, the_d for example, is better to the eye just because he's trying new stuff.  Everyone should be good at basics, I believe, but after you've got a good foundation down, you might as well start trying new things.
