I was looking at Lee Barden's comparison with the bruce lee style chux and the prochux and he said on the prochux, there is a pin which shows the balance point. I wondered, what's the difference with prochux and how do you make it?

Well, Mr. Barden is a member of the forum and I'm not sure he'd be willing to divulge the secrets of his own brand of chucks.  That would kinda lose him money if people were just making cheap versions and evidently the dip in the economy is affecting him as well so perhaps you should just by some thrashers, put some money in his pocket and experiment with them yourself to see what the difference is.  :thumb:

Okay, thanks. I didn't know he was on the forums. That's awesome! He is my second fav chucker (other than bruce lee of course).

Although, what's the difference between the prochux and normal chucks? (other than the string being shorter)

I have heard from alot of people you will never make a set of chucks at home like buying some proper pro chucks. Abit hyporcritical of me trying to make some at home today  but unfortunatly ive been banned from buying any more chucks atm. Just wish id bought pros instead of the dino things i have now.

The main difference as far as I understand it is that the pros are thinner than average and are precisely balanced to within a gram or two.  Well, that and they're offered in a selection of fine woods unlike most generic chucks.   When it comes down to custom chucks it's prochux and Woodalls and as luck would have it, we have a representative from both camps right here on the forum.  Doesn't get much better than that.

i love prochux for the  main reason being the over all control you get. when you imput force (to spin the chuck) it the force has to travel through less string and thus movement is implemented quicker. pros are great for learning aireals and gain control over your planes, and hell once you get used to them youll be doing all sorts of rolls everywhere. another thing is that they are durable. ive gotten about 60 too 70 hours out of my first pair, and they are still going strong.

The connection lies on the balancing point. The cord is very short (only enough to fold) and the cord movement is restricted within the nunchaku. If you want to make some get someone who owns a pair to measure where the point lies (I would but I gave my pros away) then the pin (on the balancing point) is used to secure the rope. The diameters are 3/4" and the rope is a 4 strand. Drill the hole down the top just allowing 4 strands to fit.

Try doing this.

Two strand is much easier to make like this than four. connection on the right chuck is looped in the center of the cord, connection on the left is both ends of the cord looped under the pin.

Agreed. I'll try that. So the cord is connected on the screw and hangs there? Is that how you get control?

seems to me that those look somewhat like prochux (string-wise). they fold perfectly. but the real prochux are hexagon shaped, not round, if that's what you're looking for. if you cross your thumb over your index finger, you can easily see their shape...
